PENTJAK-SILAT or SILAT from Indonesia also called BERSILAT in Malaysia have over 250 combat systems practiced throughout Southeast Asia. Many Silat systems are self-defense fighting arts which use counter-attacks along with intricate empty-hand techniques, complex joint locks, unique footwork, sweeps and throws. Moreover, many systems also imitate wild animals fighting such as Harimau "tiger" or Elang "eagle". Because there are profound similarities among SILAT and WING CHUN techniques, we often integrate the two arts together during advanced-level training. The concepts, principles, and techniques of the arts also compliment each other perfectly to create a beautiful fusion during combat.
