| Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) |
| |
FILIPINO MARTIAL ARTS (FMA) encompass Kali, Escrima, Arnis, Arnis de Mano all refers to the weapons based martial arts often associated with stick, sword, and knife fighting. "Escrima" and "Arnis" are the two most common names used in the Philippines while the word "Kali" is more popularly used in Europe and the United States. FMA is an extremely evolved art that uses weapons as the extension of ones arms for striking, slashing, cutting etc…while one can interchangeably fight empty hands based on the weapon movements learned. FMA are few of the only combat arts that start with weapons before learning empty hand techniques. The empty hands techniques are surprisingly similar to both SILAT and WING CHUN as well. The weapons training in our program enhances ones coordination, strength and environmental adaptation.
